George would like to travel to Toronto, ON for the 2010 International Women’s Brass Conference. The intention is to compete in the Susan Slaughter Solo Brass Competition as well as perform and attend other conference events.
George will use the money to offset registration fees, competition fees, accompanist fees, lodging, and transportation costs. The estimate the total cost to be near $1,000.
This project will provide international exposure to the Department of Music at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia, and to the tuba as a solo instrument. The networking opportunities will be immensely valuable and he will learn from attending the conference events in the artistically vibrant city of Toronto. Furthermore, it will help to expand on previous artistic collaborations. Alice Gomez will be a feature composer at the IWBC and was the topic of his Doctoral Dissertation. She was also recently our guest for the 2010 Marshall University Day of Percussion. For more information please visit the conference website at http://www.iwbctoronto2010.com and George’s website at www.georgepalton.com.
